El Ocho acquires the rights of LazyTown, Peppa Pig and Canal Cocina

El Ocho Licencias y Promociones has acquired, at national level, in the first quarter of 2010 the rights of representation of LazyTown, Peppa Pig and Canal Cocina.

El Ocho Licencias y Promociones relaunches Lazy Town. After several years of backgroind in the area of licensing, the Agency wanted to bet on this children´s series. The owner is in negotiations to have the support of the Ministry of Health and the major companies to participate in numerous promotional sport campaigns. Already there is an agreement of collaboration with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).

Lazy Town is beginning to be placed in the top spot in the ranking of the most sought licenses for child audiences. At the present time LazyTown is in discussions with the major companies in the toy sector also this series counts with the support of the television.

From Lazy Town, want to capture the attention of children and families to encourage them to keep a healthy lifestyle, and they have created a package of seven simple rules, easy and fun to follow.

The series, which is aimed at children 2-8 years old, has 52 episodes of 26 minutes, and currently broadcasts in La 2, Clan TV and Disney Channel. And for the next back to school are expected 26 new episodes called Lazy Town Extra co-produced by TVE.

Another series that reaches Spain and Portugal is Peppa Pig. Exported from England and awarded with the BAFTA award 2008, Peppa Pig is broadcast in Cataluña's Regional channel TV3 and in Portugal is broadcast in RPT and next September at Canal Panda.

Peppa Pig is being an unprecedented success in Portugal. Because of this El Ocho begin to develop its program of licensing in this country. One of the leading toy companies is in negotiations to sign important agreements. After the agreement is signed, they want to launch the entire line of toys of LazyTown. Also a leading company acquires DVD rights of Peppa Pig.

Regarding the development of licensing in Spain, El Ocho is waiting to be broadcast nationally. Currently this process is in negotiations. Peppa Pig has 130 chapters in five minutes each and a Christmas special of 11 minutes.
